European Chocolates Are Exquisite
European chocolates are richer in cocoa phenols than American chocolates, which makes European chocolates darker, and slightly more bitter. However, dark chocolates are healthier. So now you have an excuse to indulge in European chocolates.
Which is Better--European Chocolates or American?
That all depends on what you like. Most people will agree that European chocolate is smooth, but more bitter than American chocolate. But when Europeans say American chocolate is grainy, that's not really true either. American chocolates might not be as smooth at European chocolates, but that doesn't make them grainy. Which chocolate is "best," really depends on the taster. Everyone has a different reaction, and a different palate, so who's to say? One thing is certain though--European chocolates are considered gourmet chocolates for whatever reason, and they make an excellent gift.
Varieties of European Chocolates
European chocolates come in many varieties. There are French chocolates, Swiss chocolates and Belgian chocolates, just to name a few. And the Europeans have thought to do something you don't see American chocolate makers do--fill their confections with alcohol. Obviously, not all European chocolates are filled with liquor, but if you ever have one, it's quite a surprise if you don't know what's inside before you take a bite. It's similar to biting into a chocolate-covered cherry, but the inside is filled with liquor like brandy or vodka instead of a cherry.
Most European chocolate brands are considered gourmet because of the high quality of ingredients they use and the way they are made. A lot of these gourmet brands are German chocolates and Dutch chocolates, along with French chocolates and British chocolates. Somehow, Europe has gotten the jump on the chocolate-making industry. Try a brand today.
Just like gourmet American chocolates, European chocolates come in truffles and various other assortments. Visit http://www.chocolate.com for European chocolate gift ideas.
